Big Boy at 3 Weeks

Braxton Edward is already 3 weeks old and growing like a weed! It's hard to believe that we have been parents to this precious thing for almost a month now! We love being parents and are really starting to get the hang of it. My body is finally starting to adjust to the lack of sleep and not being able to sleep for more than 3 hours at a time.

Braxton went to the doctor last week for a 2 week check up. Everything looked great! Braxton weighed a whole whoppin' 7 lbs! That put him in the 25 percentile which the doctor said is fine because he is gaining weight well and you have to consider that he was two weeks early. He has really been putting on the weight and filling out since then, but I don't think we are going to have a chubby baby. He's got those Birkenfeld genes! Braxton is really starting to look more like a baby instead of a newborn. It's amazing at how much he changes every day!

Braxton had his first bath on Thursday since his umbilical cord fell off. He really like it! We posted a ton of pictures of it on our smugmug picture webpage so that you all can check it out! (It's under "Braxton's First Month")The best part was when he pooped and peed in the water. Blake got a perfect picture of it! I'm sure Braxton will thank us for all of the naked pictures of himself when he is a teenager. We also got video of it, but Blake hasn't put that online yet, so stay tuned!
Braxton is sleeping really well at night. He does sleep in his bassinet but usually prefers to sleep on mommy or daddy's chest. By 7 or 8 a.m. he gets a little fussy and refuses to sleep in his bassinet, so he usually just lays on top of me until I get up. Sometimes I elbow Blake at that point and tell him that it's his turn!

Blake's parents and grandmother were here this past week and were a lot of help, so a very special thanks to them! We are now officially on our own. So far, so good! Braxton really is a lot of fun. Blake and I just sit and stare in awe at this precious baby that the Lord created. Every noise, every face, every movement are all just little miracles that make us thankful for the life we were given.
